Cowboys' Dez Bryant: 'I'm ready to play'

Just as Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant @DezBryant was becoming a consistent threat in the team's aerial attack, he broke an ankle in December. About six months later, Bryant has declared himself fit, saying he is planning for the long haul in 2011. "I'm very determined to stay healthy this season," Bryant said Saturday to the Associated Press. "I'm working hard and I am staying focused on that. I'm running routes every day to get ready. It was 104 degrees yesterday and I was running gassers. I feel good and I'm ready to play." Bryant recorded 45 catches for 561 yards and six touchdowns in his rookie season and also returned two punts for touchdowns.

Fantasy Analysis:

It's been a tumultuous offseason for Bryant, who has mostly been in the news because of stories written about rifts between him and Deion Sanders or between him and members of the Cowboys. Bryant will probably continue to make some unwelcomed noise off the field, but his supreme talent makes it a little easier to overlook that for fantasy purposes. If he can stay on the field, Bryant has the potential to be a WR1 in fantasy this season. However, that may be a little too ambitious. You're probably better off drafting him as a WR2 and seeing what happens. Just don't be all that surprised if he crushes the projections.
