Steelers' Emmanuel Sanders healing after surgery on both feet
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders
broke his right foot during Super Bowl XLV, and it's been known for a while that he underwent two foot surgeries during this offseason. It has been assumed that both operations were performed on the right foot, but that turned out to not be the case. Sanders told Pro Football Weekly recently that X-rays were were done on his left foot prior to the surgery and a small fracture was found. Sanders had both issues fixed and is now on the mend. Sanders said the right foot has healed and he is walking fine, but the left foot isn't expected to be full strength until late June.
During recent team-organized workouts, Sanders wanted to display commitment to his craft. So he caught passes from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger while wearing a walking boot. He said he'll be ready to go whenever the season begins.
Fantasy Analysis:
Sanders had a fair rookie season. He was the Steelers' third-most productive wide receiver with 28 catches for 376 yards and two touchdowns. Hines Ward
is coming off of his worst season since his rookie year, and he is starting to show his age more and more. Thus, the speedy Sanders will probably get more snaps and targets in 2011. He's a deep-but-decent sleeper.
