Colts' Peyton Manning recovering from another neck surgery
Two neck surgeries in the past 15 months now appear on Peyton Manning's medical sheet. But don't worry too much -- Manning labeled this latest procedure, which was performed Monday, as "minimally evasive." Colts owner Jim Irsay said Manning's recovery is expected to take eight weeks, and Manning told the Indianapolis Star that he expects "a quick recovery." Manning remained in the hospital Monday night before returning home Tuesday afternoon to begin his rehab. Monday's operation addressed a recent disk-related issue in Manning's neck that was causing him pain. The purpose of his previous neck operation from March 3, 2010 was to fix a pinched nerve. In that case, Manning said he was working out within a week and lifting weights within two weeks. Manning came back from that to throw for a career-high 4,700 yards and 33 touchdowns last season.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is no reason to downgrade Manning on your draft cheat sheets. He should be completely recovered by August at the latest, and you should expect more monster numbers from him. He should be comfortably placed within the top-five at QB. Peyton Manning has played in 208 consecutive games. Hopefully he gets a chance to make it 209 this September. And any sense of doubt there has nothing to do with neck surgery.
