Cardinals' Beanie Wells is in the best shape of his life

Give credit to Arizona Cardinals running back Beanie Wells; he's attending player-organized workouts and, per the Arizona Republic, he looks great. Wells was one of many Cardinals who participated in drills on Wednesday. Upon seeing Wells, Republic columnist Paola Bolvin wrote: "Running back Beanie Wells was at the players-organized workout looking like he didn't have an ounce of body fat on him."

Fantasy Analysis:

Wells' conditioning has always been a key issue with him. Don't be fooled -- these stories about Wells looking fit and trim in the offseason aren't new. But he does have some extra motivation for this season. The Cardinals spent a second-round pick on running back Ryan Williams @lilsweetness34, and the team expects him to play a noticeable role in the backfield right away. Wells is just 22 years old and can't be designated as a first-round bust yet. But he hasn't been very impressive in his NFL career and is coming off an ugly 2010 in which he averaged just 3.4 yards over 116 carries and was nagged by injuries. If Wells doesn't start fast, he could lose more work to Williams, who has the size to be a 20-touch RB at this level. Figuring out when to draft Wells and Williams in fantasy will be tough since there have been whispers that the two will split carries. It's yet another situation that will hopefully become clearer in training camp. With that, I'm obligated to include the newest NFL cliche: if there is a training camp.
