Report: Brady Quinn might be Broncos' starting QB
Brady Quinn
's days as a starting quarterback in the NFL may not be over just yet. That is, if you listen to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, who has been listening to Broncos head coach John Fox and executive vice president of football operations John Elway.
"I can tell you unequivocally that if you talk to John Elway and John Fox," Mortensen said, "they will tell you emphatically that Brady Quinn is absolutely in the mix in terms of the competition for the starting job. They are not handing it to Tim Tebow
. They are not handing it to Kyle Orton. They may have a depth chart to start out, but I know in communicating and speaking to both men that Brady Quinn is not forgotten."
A first-round pick from 2007, Quinn has started just 12 games in his four-year career and has been without much success. He has a career QB rating of 66.8 with 10 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has completed just 52.1 percent of his passes with an extraordinarily low 5.4 yards per attempt average.
Fantasy Analysis:
What's wrong with infusing some verbal confidence into the third-best quarterback on your roster? Isn't that kind of a coach's job? The Broncos will probably lose Kyle Orton whenever this lockout is solved, but Quinn really has no realistic shot at starting, save for an injury or a total mental breakdown to Tim Tebow.
