Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew will be limited in training camp

We don't know when NFL training camps will be held. With today's report that the NFL "trade association" is expecting the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals to grant the owners' request for a full stay of the lockout injunction, we shouldn't expect football activities of any sort until at least some point in June. But when training camps do open, expect one of the most valuable fantasy running backs to be reined in. Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith admitted Tuesday that Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32 will be limited during training camp as he recovers from knee surgery. Jones-Drew underwent a procedure in January to repair a damaged meniscus, which he played with for all of his 2010 season and caused bone-on-bone friction in his knee. Jones-Drew, 26, said in an April radio interview that he's already able to run on the knee, something that wasn't expected to happen until May at the earliest. Despite the injury, Jones-Drew rushed for 1,324 yards and scored seven total touchdowns in 14 games last season

Fantasy Analysis:

Preseason injury worries are nothing new with MJD. His draft stock fell during the 2010 preseason amid rumblings that he was already injured. Turns out he was, but it didn't stop him from turning in a pretty solid season. He would have easily finished within the top-10 scorers at running back if he hadn't missed the final two games of the season. However, you have to decide if you want to spend a first-round pick on MJD this year and carry the obvious red flags that come with him. He averaged a league-high 21.4 carries last year and has racked up the fourth-most carries over the past two seasons (611).
