Saints' Thomas sent packing to injured reserve
New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas
has been sent to the injured reserve list after an up-and-down season of battling injuries. The Saints are already playing without Chris Ivory
who was sent to injured reserve after last Sunday's regular season finale. New Orleans travels to Seattle for their first-round game in the 2011 NFL Playoffs. The Saints are down to two healthy running backs from their regular season roster: Reggie Bush
and Julius Jones. They've also added DeShawn Wynn and rookie Joique Bell, who was signed less than a week ago from the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad. Bush returned in late November after breaking his leg but says he is feeling stronger everyday.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Saints will need good performances from Bush and Jones. Although Seattle and the rest of the NFC West looked pitiful all during the regular season, both teams are 0-0 in playoffs. Bush has 70 touches for 358 yards and one touchdown all season. Jones has 77 touches for 282 yards and some of that production came while Jones was still on Seattle. New Orleans has already played Seattle once this season at home. The Saints won that game 34-19. The Seahawks' offense performed relatively well with 424 yards, but the Saints were very productive on offense as well and won the game with ease. Brees passed for 382 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
