Chiefs' Bowe comes down with illness
With the playoffs only days away, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe
has come down with an undisclosed illness. Offensive guard Brian Waters, who has been named to the Pro Bowl, has been listed with the same undisclosed illness. The Chiefs have added free-agent wide receiver Kevin Curtis just in case Bowe cant' play. So far, no decision regarding either player has been made as both players did not practice on Wedneday. "I just go by today," coach Todd Haley said. "Today, they were not able to go." Quarterback Matt Cassel feels this is all a non-issue and Bowe will play on the weekend. "We've been together for 17 weeks now, or whatever it's been, and hopefully he's back sooner than later and he rests up and he's back on the field, and we're able to continue to work together," Cassel said. "From a timing standpoint, I think I understand Dwayne's body language, his ability to run certain routes. I think we'll be fine."
Fantasy Analysis:
Losing Bowe would be huge. He had a huge season with 72 receptions for 1,162 yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns this season. The Chiefs have been steady on offense, relying heavily on their two-pronged rushing attack of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones. With the added mix of Bowe spreading the field vertically, the Chiefs were usually balanced enough to keep teams off-balance. The Chiefs will need all their players on offense this week as they face the Baltimore Ravens.
