Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert declares for NFL Draft

If Stanford's Andrew Luck decides to come back to school, the first quarterback drafted April 28 may be Blaine Gabbert. The junior from Missouri announced Monday that he will forgo his season season to go pro. "This is definitely a bittersweet day for me, I was really looking forward to having a chance to do some special things next season with my teammates, but in the end, this is the right decision to make for myself and my family," Gabbert said. "These last three years have been an unbelievable experience for me, and I'll miss being at Mizzou, but I'm definitely looking forward to this next stage of my life." Gabbert threw for 3,186 yards and 16 touchdowns during his junior year, completing 63.4 percent of his passes. He added 232 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. In Monday mock draft of the top five picks, Scouts Inc's Todd McShay has Gabbert being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals at No. 5.

Fantasy Analysis:

Gabbert is a big, tall QB with lots of arm strength and showed good accuracy last season. If he does land with Arizona, he could certainly be someone to watch in deep leagues, even though all rookie QBs are very risky. Of course, Derek Anderson @DAnderson314 still resides in the desert; it would be exactly what the Cardinals need: more quarterback uncertainty.
