Vikings stick with Frazier as head coach
The Minnesota Vikings have decided to make interim head coach Leslie Frazier the full-time coach. According to the Minnesota Star-Tribune, Frazier is seeking a three-year contract. Frazier led Minnesota to a 3-3 record to close out the season. He was formerly the team's defensive coordinator and took over for Brad Childress after he was fired. The Star-Tribute is also reporting that he will be named head coach sometime during this week. Minnesota's three wins under Frazier came against Washington, Buffalo and Philadelphia, while the three losses were against the New York Giants, Chicago and Detroit.
Fantasy Analysis:
Frazier hasn't shown much over the last month and a half to really merit this decision. Sure, he won just as many games as Childress in half the number of games, but the Vikings should've won a lot more games regardless. The thought process may be that a new coach would want to bring in all his own guys in: new quarterback, new offense, new schemes, etc. While sticking with Frazier keeps the roster intact and builds upon what the Vikings already have. This also would give the general manager more control since Brad Childress was allowed to do whatever he liked (cutting Randy Moss) and perhaps Frazier allows the team's management to have it's cake and eat it too.
