Saints' Pierre Thomas injured during practice, questionable for week 17
Pierre Thomas
' left ankle has turned the 2010 season into a lost one for the fourth-year running back. And just when it seemed that he was nearing full health, he may be lost for the regular-season finale versus Tampa Bay. Thomas re-injured the ankle during Friday's practice; he was listed as a limited participant. Head coach Sean Payton refused to specify the severity of the injury, other than to say Thomas is questionable on the official injury report. Thomas missed nine games this season because of left ankle injuries. But he's coming off his most productive game of the year -- 102 yards from scrimmage and a score during Monday night's win at Atlanta.
Fantasy Analysis:
Chris Ivory
, Reggie Bush
and Julius Jones all practiced fully on Friday and are expected to play against the Bucs. Ivory is the only RB of that group you should care about for fantasy purposes. He hasn't played since week 14 because of a hamstring strain, but he has a decent matchup against Tampa Bay's run defense, which has permitted an average of 21 fantasy points to running backs in its past four games. Thomas is a game-time decision and since the Saints-Bucs kick off at 1 p.m., we'll know if it's safe or not to deploy him in your fantasy lineups Sunday morning. If he's inactive, Ivory automatically becomes a nice flex play despite the time off. Bush and Jones are certainly not better options. Reggie looks absolutely lost.
