Texans' Andre Johnson will not play Sunday; surgery scheduled for next week

Fantasy owners who are playing in week 17 are already scrambling because of a large number of resting starters; they don't need any extra trouble from the injury bug. But it has struck with a vengeance before Sunday's Jaguars-Texans game. Maurice Jones-Drew has already been ruled out and now a fantasy stud on the other side, Andre Johnson @johnson80, will also be inactive. That news comes by way of the Houston Chronicle, stating Johnson's ankle is too painful for him to play. Sunday will signify the third game he's missed because of the injury. "I'm definitely not happy about it," Johnson said. "The biggest thing was just being smart about the situation. The best thing I felt was for me not to be out there to have something else bad happen or me re-injure the ankle like I've been doing the whole season." Johnson said he'll undergo arthroscopic surgery on the ankle next week. "Because I kept playing on it, some things like loose particles developed in there, and now I'm going to get them cleaned out," he said.

Fantasy Analysis:

Johnson was originally ruled a game-time decision, but he's taking the safe route. It's a bad break for fantasy owners as Johnson had a great matchup against the Jaguars. He averaged 101.5 yards in his past four meetings with Jacksonville and three touchdowns. Jacoby Jones @TheRealJacoby12, who had a 100-yard game last week in Johnson's absence, is a trendy plug-and-play for this week. Tight end Owen Daniels @owendaniels should continue to see more targets.
