UPDATE: Vikings' Favre, Rice doubtful to play in season finale
For those seeking one final huzzah from Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre may be out of luck. Favre wore a red non-contact jersey on practice Friday but did not participate in any drills. Interim head coach Leslie Frazier has not addressed the media in regards to Favre passing post-concussion tests which would clear him to play on Sunday. "I'm going to just leave it as doubtful for now, without going into any detail about it," Frazier said. "If we leave him doubtful, it should cover things with him. Never rule him out." Running back Adrian Peterson
is probable but wide receiver Sidney Rice
is doubtful after not passing his post-concussion tests.
Fantasy Analysis:
Minnesota couldn't have asked for a more humbling season. A year after being on the doorstep of the Super Bowl, they find themselves floudering in mediocrity. Favre has been a distraction on and off the field. While most fans have stopped caring about Favre, he's in bad shape. This is probably his last game. He had nothing in the tank this year. For Rice, he'll miss the game, but what is there to play for except pride right now? Rice has an expiring contract and with the labor disputes unresolved, he could have bigger problems. The fantasy implications are pretty simple, cut or bench Favre and Rice, find somebody from a team who has something to play for. Keep Peterson in your starting lineup, as expected.
