Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew doubtful, needs offseason knee surgery
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew
is unlikely to play Sunday because of his knee injury. Head coach Jack Del Rio basically insinuated that claim Wednesday and FOX's Jay Glazer reported that "barring (a) miraculous turnaround" Jones-Drew will miss his second consecutive game. Without him and David Garrard available, it's also doubtful the Jags' season continues past Jan. 2. And the start of their offseason brings the possibility Jones-Drew will undergo surgery to cure what currently ails him. Glazer said Jones-Drew "needs" knee surgery, but he is putting off until the team is officially eliminated from the postseason. Jacksonville will have to depend upon Trent Edwards and Rashad Jennings
in a must-win game at Houston.
Fantasy Analysis:
A lot of fantasy teams have to forgive Jennings for his underwhelming totals last week and start him again. The Texans have allowed an average of 26 fantasy points to running backs in their past four games. They have been carved up by Chris Johnson, LeSean McCoy and even Correll Buckhalter of late. Jennings should be successful with plenty of receiving yards and he's a pretty good touchdown bet. Don't forget that he scored in two of the previous three games before Sunday's disappointment. He's a top-20 option for the finale.
