Jets' Rex Ryan changes mind, leaning toward starting Mark Sanchez
About 24 after Rex Ryan said he would probably rest quarterback Mark Sanchez
and his sore right shoulder before the playoffs, he changed his tune Monday. Ryan told the New York Post that Sanchez will probably play in week 17 because "he is in such a groove right now."
"It's kind of a fine line because he's hot right now," Ryan said of Sanchez. "We can't afford for him to take a dip. We need him to stay at this level. Those are things we'll definitely consider. I don't want to say 100 percent he's out or he's in, to be honest with you. That's what I'm weighing right now."
Fantasy Analysis:
It must not take much for Ryan to be impressed with a quarterback. Sanchez has been nothing more than safe in the the past two weeks and putrid in the two preceding weeks. All we can expect right now is that he will start versus Buffalo this Sunday. I doubt Sanchez plays the whole game, so even with a beatable matchup, he should remain out of lineups in all but the deepest fantasy leagues. Santonio Holmes
and Braylon Edwards
should be avoided as well. If I had to take a guess, I think Ryan will keep his offensive starters in for a little more than a half before turning the show over to Mark Brunell. As it is the Bills, I think Shonn Greene will have a big game and even a worn LaDainian Tomlinson is worth a shot.
