Lions' Calvin Johnson could play without practicing
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson missed most of the fourth quarter Sunday because of a right ankle injury. He might not set foot on a field all week, but that doesn't mean the injury will hold him out of Sunday's season finale against Minnesota. Lions head coach Jim Schwartz said Monday it's possible Johnson could be active for the contest without any practice time. "If [no practice] would help him get through (to Sunday) with his ankle, that would be something we'd do," Schwartz said. Johnson said after the win at Miami that the ankle bothered him all day. It also limited him a bit during practice last week.
Fantasy Analysis:
So don't fret if you read Johnson didn't practice Thursday or Friday; he's on track to be a game-time decision against the Vikings. It's an early kickoff, so you should have no problem switching him out if he is indeed inactive. But if he's starting, you've got to put him in your lineup. Practice or no, how hard can it be for Shaun Hill just to chuck it up to Megatron? Yes, his yardage totals have dipped since week 10 -- fewer than 81 yards receiving in all but one game since. But he's still a gigantic target around the end zone and the Vikings have been torched by fellow NFC North opponents during the second half of the season.
