Chargers' Malcom Floyd, Mike Tolbert, Antonio Gates likely out for week 17

The San Diego Chargers will play their starters in the final week, but only if they are healthy. Anything less than 100 percent means a spot on the sidelines. Mike Tolbert @miketolbert35 has a sprained neck and a bruised shoulder. Malcom Floyd has a hamstring injury. Antonio Gates @AntonioGates85 has multiple foot injuries. According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, none of those players will play Sunday at Denver. "If someone is not physically capable of going and it puts them in jeopardy, then we'll make a wise decision," Head coach Norv Turner said Monday. "But we're going to go play the football game to win."

Fantasy Analysis:

Tolbert is certainly out. Gates practically shut himself down a couple of weeks ago. Floyd's hamstring hasn't shown significant improvement. Vincent Jackson @VincentTJackson will remain Philip Rivers' top WR target, but this is most important news for Ryan Mathews @rmathews24. With Tolbert inactive, he's slated to get a lot of touches against the weak Broncos run defense. He's run decently with the 15-17 touches he's received in the past three games. He's scored twice and is averaging about four yards per carry. Now he'll get to face Broncos, who have allowed the most fantasy points to running backs this season. I know he's been a major bust, but don't be afraid to trust Mathews as an RB2 for week 17.
