Texans' Andre Johnson will have sole say on playing Sunday
Houston Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson
didn't play in week 16. If he plays in week 17 will be his decision alone. That's what head coach Gary Kubiak indicated Monday. Kubiak also said that Johnson won't practice during the week as he continues to treat different sources of pain in his right ankle. But even without practice, Johnson could still play versus Jacksonville; it just depends on how he feels.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Texans have nothing to play for, so it would seem unwise for them to activate their stud wideout when he's clearly hurting. But if what Kubiak said is true and they are actually going to abide by Johnson's word, I think you have to expect him playing in the season finale. Most players who are hurt still want to give it a go; I don't expect Johnson is any different. Plus, the Jaguars' pass defense is a great matchup and I'm sure he would like to finish the season on a good note. If Johnson decides to play it safe and hold himself out, wide receiver Jacoby Jones
and tight end Owen Daniels
become pretty stellar starts. With Johnson inactive at Denver, Jones racked up 115 yards. Daniels was targeted 14 times and scored a touchdown. Jones is a high-end WR3 while Daniels is a top-10 TE if Johnson is out this week.
