Bucs' Benn sent to injured reserve

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Arrelious Benn @ArreliousBenn was placed on the injured reserve list due to a knee injury. Benn was hurt in the second quarter of Sunday's 38-14 win against the Seattle Seahawks. When asked what happened to cause the injury Benn replied, "I have no idea, I don't even want to know." Benn was selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay. Benn has 25 receptions, 395 yards and two touchdowns on the season. Benn was widely considered a rookie sleeper at receiver heading into the season but ultimately his teammate, receiver Mike Williams has far outperformed him.

Fantasy Analysis:

Benn has underwhelmed all season but has been part of a larger improvement at Tampa Bay under second year head coach Raheem Morris. The Bucs went 3-13 last season but currently sit at 8-5. They still have a shot, although unlikely, to make the playoffs this season. Benn had a breakout year in 2008 while at the University of Illinois. Although lacking elite speed, he's a tough runner after the catch. As he continues to develop, his fantasy value will increase but the Bucs need to improve their running game in order to make things easier for their offense. The NFC South is too difficult for to be one-dimensional.
