Jets' Mark Sanchez to start barring setback
I guess "barring a setback" can be used regarding any player with a manageable injury, but barring a setback, Mark Sanchez
will be the Jets' starting quarterback Sunday in Chicago. Sanchez has torn cartilage in his right (throwing) shoulder, but he took all of the snaps with the first-team offense during Friday's practice and reportedly threw the ball with good velocity. Head coach Rex Ryan certainly expects him to play.
"We don't think this is an injury that is going to get worse," Ryan told the New York Daily News on Friday. He really pushed it today. Really threw it around well. We think he'll be right around 100 percent."
Mark Brunell, 40, is Sanchez's primary backup.
Fantasy Analysis:
Jets fans were given cause for pause when Ryan's estimate on Sanchez's chances of playing dropped from 99 percent on Wednesday to 80 on Thursday. But it seems like he's back up into the high 90s after a full practice today. Of course, that doesn't mean you want him in your lineup for championship week. Sanchez didn't produce much fantasy goodness in the past two weeks at New England and at Pittsburgh. Now he and the Jets travel to Chicago to face that Bears defense in poor weather. Sanchez is not even a quality QB2 this week.
