Texans' Andre Johnson dealing with new ankle injury, is game-time decision
You all know about Andre Johnson
's high right ankle sprain. He's been playing through it for the most part since week two. But now with two weeks left in the season, he has a new ailment to deal with in his right ankle. Specifically, he's experiencing a lot of pain around his Achilles' tendon, forcing him to miss practice all week.
"It hurts worse than it had been, and the pain goes from the front to the back," Johnson said Friday to the Houston Chronicle. "I'm going to do everything I can to be ready to play, but I don't want to do something that could cause more damage and possible (surgery)."
This new concern cropped up during Houston's Monday night game versus Baltimore a couple of weeks ago. Johnson has taken pain-killing injections that have allowed him to play, but head coach Gary Kubiak said he's not sure if another injection will be able to help him for Sunday when the Texans face the Denver Broncos. Kubiak has said Johnson will be a game-time decision.
Fantasy Analysis:
If Johnson is active, you have to start him. Even if he is clearly less than 100 percent and set for a three-hour meeting with Champ Bailey, I don't see how you can bench him in your championship week if he's out there. That being said, expect the Texans to be cautious with Johnson's ankle and maybe give him a few extra plays off. They have nothing to play for, so there's no reason to overwork him. Also know that this is an afternoon start in Denver, so make sure you have some viable depth if Johnson is out. If Johnson can't play, Jacoby Jones
will start opposite Kevin Walter.
