Cowboys' Romo officially on IR
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was placed on the injured reserve list on Tuesday. Romo fractured his left collarbone on Oct. 25 in a loss to the New York Giants. Reports varied on how long it would take him to return, but a window of 6 to 8 or 8 to 10 weeks were the most common. But at this stage, Romo is still having discomfort and does not have a full range of motion. Owner Jerry Jones stated a few weeks ago that he hoped Romo could return to play in the last few games of the season but acknowledged after Sunday's win against the Redskins that is was unlikely. The Cowboys were 1-5 in before Romo's injury.
Fantasy Analysis:
The final two games of the season belong to backup Jon Kitna. I'm still confused as to why Jerry Jones wanted Romo to play in the last few weeks of this season. In any case, the end of this season will probably be a weight off the Cowboys' shoulders. But in hindsight, this will be a very real wake-up call that the Cowboys have a long way to go in the NFC East. With the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants leading the way, Dallas is left battling itself in order to compete. Romo will get another shot at things in 2011 and with a full year of experience for wide receiver Dez Bryant
, the offense should continue to improve.
