Steelers' Miller cleared to play Thursday night
Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Heath Miller, who has missed the last two games due to a concussion, has been cleared to play Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers. Miller sustained that concussion two weeks ago in a game against the Baltimore Ravens. He began having post-concussion headaches and was not cleared to play. Miller was hit by Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain
, who was later fined $40,000 by the NFL. Backup tight end Matt Spaeth
has played in Miller's place and in the last two weeks, he only had four receptions for 29 yards but he did manage to score a touchdown this past game against the New York Jets.
Fantasy Analysis:
Miller's production has dropped off to near career-low numbers. Granted, he has missed those two games but this year has been noticeably underwhelming. The Steelers passing offense is 18th-best in the NFL with 213.5 yards per game so while that is below average, it's not awful. But, it is a drop from 9th in 2009. Miller isn't a good play in fantasy football to close out the season. There are at least 20 tight ends who have had better seasons. Pittsburgh will need all their players healthy as they enter the playoffs, so it's good for them to have Miller back out on the field.
