Jets' Sanchez has MRI on right shoulder
New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez
had an MRI taken on his sore right shoulder after the team's 22-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Rex Ryan described Sanchez's shoulder as "kind of sore and that the MRI was "precautionary." Ryan went on to say, "Anytime it's your quarterback, you're going to make sure he's OK." Sanchez injured his shoulder during the Jets' second drive. Sanchez finished the game 19 for 29 for 170 yards and a rushing TD. Ryan feels he will probably rest Sanchez and keep him limited in a practice or two since this game against the Steelers was particularly physical.
Fantasy Analysis:
If we take things at face value, the MRI is precautionary but I'm a little skeptical. My guess is this is something that's been nagging him throughout the year or in the last few weeks. He's able to play through it but it still bothers him. So what does that have to do with your fantasy team? Well, probably nothing as Sanchez isn't exactly a top 10 QB this season, but all things have a trickle down effect in fantasy football. It may mean a few extra carries for LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene, it may mean more short passes and checkdown passes to Dustin Keller
. In any case, the Jets are in the driver's seat for a playoff spot and it would be an awful time to have Sanchez get injured more seriously.
