Who's in and who's out of the early games in week 15

It's semifinal Sunday in many fantasy leagues. Make it count. Keep checking back on this note until the early kickoffs for the latest information of who will suit up today and who's inactive. With 10 early games today, there are a number of fantasy-relevant players who are dinged up and their playing status is in some level of question, including Matt Cassel, David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew @Jones_Drew32, Terrell Owens @terrellowens, etc. Players already ruled inactive for week 15 include Lee Evans, Todd Heap, the Giants' Steve Smith, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Cassel is active for the Chiefs after missing week 14 because of an appendectomy. But, contrary to what I wrote earlier, he HAS NOT been cleared to start. (UPDATE: I keep hearing contradictory statements about Cassel. I just heard a few minutes ago on ESPN that Cassel WILL start. Whatever. Avoid him if you can.) He's not 100 percent and struggled to involve his torso while throwing in practice this week. Then, via Rotoworld, ESPN's Adam Schefter received a text message from an observer watching Cassel during pregame saying, "Warmups weren't pretty." Brodie Croyle will get another start and Cassel will probably be the backup. He may play if Croyle bombs again, but probably not much. Dwayne Bowe suddenly becomes a tough start yet again. DeSean Jackson @DeseanJackson10 is active, as expected, despite a foot strain. He's a rare must-start with high-risk, high-reward potential. Also, Asante Samuel is active and will start for the Eagles. There are a handful of notable fantasy players on the injury report for the Jaguars-Colts game, but most of them are active. Austin Collie @AKCollie_17 is back and has a great matchup. He's a high-end WR3. Jacob Tamme will start and is a top-tier tight end. Maurice Jones-Drew's knee injury is something he said he's played with before and that he doesn't expect to affect him today. And David Garrard had to take a pain-killing injection, but he'll start as well. He's a dicey QB2 today. Elsewhere for the Colts, Joseph Addai and Mike Hart are inactive. Donald Brown will get the start, but Javarris James remains a decent flex play in deep leagues because he's getting the goal-line carries. Terrell Owens is active despite a knee injury. He has a great matchup and even if he is a bit hobbled, he's a good WR2. Chad Ochocinco is also good to go despite an ankle injury. He's a WR3. Chris Ivory is inactive for the Saints because of a hamstring injury. That's a bit of a surprise to me. This moves Pierre Thomas up to RB2 consideration. He looked pretty healthy last week and should get 20 or so touches against Baltimore. I'm still not going to trust Reggie Bush until he does something. Mario Manningham is active despite a hip flexor. He'll start for the Giants in the place of Steve Smith, but we know that Eli Manning doesn't trust him much. He's a decent WR3. Roy Williams and Marion Barber are both out for the Cowboys. Felix Jones is an RB2 for me and Choice is a deep flex play. Meanwhile, this probably means even more looks for Miles Austin and Jason Witten. Shaun Hill is active for the Lions, but only as a backup for Drew Stanton. Bo Scaife, who caught two touchdowns in week 14, is a healthy scratch for the Tennessee Titans. Jared Cook will start in his place, but is a below-average fantasy play. Ryan Torain is active for the Redskins. He was listed as questionable with his hamstring injury, but it didn't hurt him last week, obviously. He's a solid flex start against the Cowboys. He should get a lot of touches with Rex Grossman at quarterback. Beanie Wells and Steve Breaston are active for the Cardinals, but you want no part of them in the fantasy playoffs. John Skelton will head this offense for a second week against Carolina in what should be a hilarious-horrible game to watch.

Fantasy Analysis:

Dealing with the inactives: Lee Evans was put on injured reserve earlier this week thanks to a high ankle sprain. Stevie Johnson should see a boatload of targets, but probably the same amount of defensive attention as well. The Dolphins have a good pass defense, so I'd consider Johnson a risky WR3. He hasn't been doing much of late. Todd Heap has a tight injury. Ed Dickson will draw another start, but he's only for the truly desperate versus New Orleans. Steve Smith needed season-ending knee surgery after Monday night's win against Minnesota. That means more starts for Mario Manningham. Bump up his stock, and Kevin Boss should get more looks as well. With Favre and Tarvaris Jackson out, Joe Webb is going to start at QB for the Vikings versus the Bears on Monday. Sidney Rice owners, take cover. Aaron Rodgers has not been cleared to play after suffering a concussion last week. Matt Flynn will get the start at New England and, like Webb, drown the fantasy values of those around him.
