Vikings' Brett Favre out, Joe Webb to start; Adrian Peterson questionable

Brett Favre is starting a new streak. Five days after his record 297 consecutive starts streaks ended, it became official that he'll miss his second consecutive game because of his right shoulder injury. Favre said earlier this week his shoulder is still bothering him and that he's also still experiencing numbness in his right hand. He didn't practice all week, so rookie Joe Webb @JoeWebb_14 will get the start in his place, interim head coach Leslie Frazier said Saturday. Webb got a bit of playing time Monday against the Giants, completing two of five passes for seven yards in garbage time. He tacked on a 16-yard run. Patrick Ramsey, who was signed Wednesday, will be his primary backup. In other Vikings news, stud runner Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson practiced Saturday after missing the past two days to rest knee and ankle ailments. He's listed as questionable on the team's injury report but is expected to play.

Fantasy Analysis:

And with Webb at QB, Adrian's carry count won't be limited. Unfortunately, he'll be facing a pissed off Bears defense. With Webb garnering no respect as a passer, Peterson will be seeing eight- and nine-man boxes all Monday night. You have to start him, but don't be absolutely shocked if he turns in another dud fantasy game. This game will be played outside. The game-time temperature will probably be around zero degrees. I don't think the Vikings will give Webb much of a chance to lose this game throwing. That Bears defense is still above average, despite last week's shellacking. Throw that all together and I think it makes Sidney Rice @sidneyrice nothing more than a borderline WR3. Bump up the Chicago D as it is an excellent play this week.
