Lions' Shaun Hill might start against Tampa Bay
A splint is still protecting a broken index finger on Shaun Hill's throwing hand, but it didn't prevent him from throwing passes during practice Wednesday. It was his first practice since suffering the injury on Thanksgiving. Head coach Jim Schwartz refused to name a starting QB for this week's game versus the Buccaneers, and Hill is preparing as if it could be him.
"It's a little different throwing with it now than it was three weeks ago, so part of it's kind of learning that, retraining myself a little bit," Hill told the Detroit Free Press. "I'm going to do everything that I can throughout the week to see where we are. I'm certainly trying (to play Sunday)."
Matthew Stafford didn't practice and remains unlikely to play as he recovers from his latest shoulder injury. Drew Stanton
, who has started the Lions' past two games, would get the call again if Hill's finger prevents him from taking snaps and taking hits.
Fantasy Analysis:
Hill's return would be a good thing for Calvin Johnson, considering he caught just one pass last week with Stanton. However, it really depends on how Hill ups his reps as the week continues. Johnson would be the only Lion I'd start this week. Even if Hill plays, he won't be 100 percent and I still can't trust Jahvid Best.
