Packers to decide on Aaron Rodgers' status Saturday, but it sounds bleak
The Green Bay Packers won't make a decision on Aaron Rodgers
' playing status for week 15 until Saturday, but the words of head coach Mike McCarthy make his chances seem slim.
"He didn't practice [Wednesday], I don't anticipate him practicing tomorrow and there's a slim chance Friday," McCarthy said. We'll make a decision Saturday."
Rodgers suffered a concussion Sunday, his second of the year, and is being put through a series of tests. He was not allowed to attend Wednesday's team meetings. Whether he'll be able to participate in meetings and film study in the next day or so will be determined by the Packers' medical staff. Matt Flynn, who filled in for the concussed Rodgers against Detroit, took the majority of first-team snaps during practice. Graham Harrell also got some work.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Packers will play Sunday night at the Patriots, a tough assignment for any quarterback, but especially one who hasn't practiced all week and is a week removed from having his brain scrambled. I would bet against Rodgers playing this week, which means you probably need to look past the Packers to complete your lineup. You can't trust any one running back and Flynn was nothing special at all against the Lions. He could barely get the ball to Greg Jennings
, who is the only Packer I would consider if Rodgers is out. If so, he is barely a top-20 WR.
