UPDATE: The Vikings are running out of QBs
Update: The Vikings placed Tarvaris Jackson
on injured reserve Thursday because of his turf toe. Early word is Joe Webb
will get the start Monday night, but I'm not completely sold on that. Patrick Ramsey is in the running.
We've already heard about how the Minnesota Vikings will not send Brett Favre to injured reserve. That's not just a PR decision as the team might actually need Favre's services before he can officially call it quits (I think).
Tarvaris Jackson's consecutive games started streak may not reach two as he is fighting through a case of turf toe, which he sustained during Monday's loss to the Giants. The Vikings haven't said much as to whether Favre or Jackson will be able to play this week versus the Bears, but both seem less than probable at the moment. If they are held out, Joe Webb would likely get the chance to start his own streak. A free-agent signing is also an option.
Fantasy Analysis:
Webb, a fifth-round rookie out of UAB, is more of an athlete than a quarterback. The Vikings flirted with the idea of moving him to wide receiver during the preseason. If he gets the opportunity to start, I don't think you can play Sidney Rice
or Percy Harvin
in good conscience. Of course, with this Vikings "home" game scheduled to be played outdoors at the University of Minnesota, where the game-time temperature is expected to be around 5 degrees Fahrenheit with 15-20 MPH winds, all receiving options in this game aren't very appealing. Stay tuned.
