Vikings do not plan to place Favre on IR
According to Minnesota Vikings interim head coach Leslie Frazier, the team has no plans to place quarterback Brett Favre on the injured reserve list. Favre did not play last week against the New York Giants, ending his streak of starting in 297 consecutive regular season games. He has an injured throwing shoulder and numbness in his hand but a recent ultrasound showed no nerve damage. The Vikings appear unwilling to end Favre's season, and possibly his career, by putting him on injured reserve. "I don't see that as being part of the equation at this point," Frazier said. "It looks like there's a chance that we're going to be able to get him back at some point. Hopefully this week."
Fantasy Analysis:
You know, the public's relationship with Favre has been strained, to say the least. He's back, no, he's gone. He's gone, no, he's back. It reminds me of one of those rocky, off-again-on-again couples who are always fighting and getting back together. But now that the dust has settled and everything that could happen has already happened, we're left with a pretty tough reality. The ol' gunslinger, the boyish grin, the chiseled vet... This is it. Favre is going to play his last game in the next few weeks and although most every fan, from casual to diehard, have been fed up with Favre, this is still the end times for a legend of the game. Favre is a non-option in fantasy as there's no telling what he'll do if he goes back out there. I'd love to see Favre go out there, throw for 400 yards, connect on some deep touchdowns and sling it like it's 1996 all over again, just for one last time.
