Cowboys not considering injured reserve for Barber
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated during a press conference that the team is not considering placing injured running back Marion Barber
on injured reserve. There is currently no timetable for Barber's return from a calf injury and is listed as out for this week's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In his place, third-string running back Tashard Choice
has seen a large increase in his role on offense. Last week against Indianapolis, Choice had 19 carries for 100 yards and a score. Placement on the injured reserve list would end Barber's season for good. It was also hinted that since Barber is out, Choice will see "a lot of carries for the rest of the year."
Fantasy Analysis:
With Barber's season drawing to a close, Choice is a back worth adding in all league formats. Unlike Barber or Felix Jones, Choice has a great mix of talents. He is not purely situational and could play every-down barring his health. While Jones excels at big plays and Barber shines as a physical runner, Choice could emerge as the team's most complete back if given a shot. Considering the team is discussing Barber's status for the remainder of the season with uncertainties, if Choice is available in your fantasy league, add him now.
