Chiefs list Matt Cassel as doubtful for week 14

The Chiefs were holding out hope as late as yesterday, but the reality was just too obvious: Quarterback Matt Cassel is officially doubtful to play Sunday after undergoing an appendectomy Wednesday. When the news broke, the team said it considered Cassel 50-50 for Sunday's critical game against the San Diego Chargers, but everyone saw that as being way too optimistic. And it was. Brodie Croyle is expected to get the start for Kansas City. The Alabama product hasn't played this year and is 0-9 as a starter in his five-year NFL career. He has eight career touchdowns and interceptions and has just a 70.6 quarterback rating.

Fantasy Analysis:

You want no part of Croyle. This is tough news for fantasy owners as Cassel has become one of the best fantasy QBs in the past month. People were looking for a Cassel rebound this week after a very sub-par fantasy day against the Broncos last week. Another big concern for fantasy owners is what this move does to Dwayne Bowe @DwayneBowe82. I think he's still a must-start, but it certainly hurts. With Cassel, I think he's a clear top-10 wide receiver. With Croyle, consider him more like a top-20 guy. Still a starter in all leagues, but with some questions to answer. You should expect Cassel to be very questionable to play in week 15 as well.
