Giants' Hakeem Nicks, Steve Smith listed as questionable

The New York Giants are expected to have their full complement of wide receivers available Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith @SteveSmithWR were limited participants at Giants practice for the third consecutive day Friday. Both are listed as questionable on the official injury report, but head coach Tom Coughlin said Thursday that both are "on track" to play in this game. Nicks has missed the past two games after surgery for compartment syndrome in his right leg. If he plays this week, he'll have returned one week ahead of schedule. Smith has been out since tearing a pectoral muscle during practice before the Dallas game in week 10.

Fantasy Analysis:

If I had to choose one, Smith is probably the safer option. Of course, Nicks is the high-upside guy, but he kind of falls into the Sidney Rice, Kenny Britt, Vincent Jackson category. They are all great receivers whom you want to have in your lineup if their active. But it's always a little risky when it's their first game back from injury. In such situations, Rice caught three balls for 56 yards. Britt caught four balls for 39 yards. Jackson lasted only a couple of plays before straining his calf. The matchup is above-average and I wouldn't blame you for deploying Smith and/or Nicks this week, but you may want to wait a week to see how they perform if you can help it.
