Cardinals put Max Hall on injured reserve
We are one step closer to seeing our 54th starting quarterback in the NFL this season. The Cardinals placed Max Hall on injured reserve Tuesday. He came off the bench Sunday for a concussed Derek Anderson
and promptly dislocated his left shoulder. Early expectations had Hall out for two-to-four weeks, so a trip to the IR seemed obvious.
Now head coach Ken Whisenhunt will have to decide between Anderson -- if he's cleared to play -- rookie John Skelton
, newly signed Richard Bartel or an unknown signee as his next starting QB. Skelton got his first NFL action after Hall's injury. The fifth-round pick from Fordham completed three of six passes for 45 yards in the final 12 minutes. Bartel, formerly of Redskins and UFL fame, was added to the roster Tuesday and has never played in an NFL game.
Fantasy Analysis:
It was really fun to watch Anderson continuously screw up early in the year, but this is now absolutely ridiculous. Whisenhunt didn't rule out the possibility that his starting quarterback this week may not even be on the roster right now. The Cardinals are home to the Denver Broncos this week and as bad as their defense is, the Broncos become automatic pick-up-and-play candidates. As with any Cardinals quarterback, the major question for fantasy owners is can he get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald
. Considering the quality of the previous owners of the job, Skelton has just as good of a shot as anyone of helping Fitz. For now, he remains a WR2 in 12-team leagues.
