Vikings' Adrian Peterson has sprained ankle; week 13 status uncertain

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier announced Monday that the MRI on running back Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson's injured right ankle showed just a sprain. So the team will play the waiting game with its top offensive force. "Now, it's just a matter of what he can or can't do," Frazier said of Peterson. "... We'll know a little more [Wednesday] when he tries to put some weight on it and move around. So we're anxious to find out how he comes along." Peterson left Sunday's game during the second quarter and couldn't return because of the ankle. He finished with 36 yards and a touchdown on six carries. He added a 34-yard reception

Fantasy Analysis:

No indication as to if this sprain is of the "high ankle" variety. I guess we'll find out as the week continues. But I would be surprised to see Peterson participate before Friday. Toby Gerhart is available in a wide majority of leagues and is a nice pickup at this point. He's not flashy, but he can get the tough yards and was respectable against the Redskins (24 touches, 81 yards and a score). The Vikings host the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, so any starting running back would be a fine play. The only question is will the the stud, Adrian, or the suddenly flex-worthy Gerhart?
