UPDATE: Chargers' Jackson out two weeks

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson @VincentTJackson made his debut this past weekend against the Indianapolis Colts but suffered a calf and groin injury. He will miss at least the next two games. Jackson injured his groin during practice in the week leading up to the game. In attempting to overcompensate from the groin injury, Jackson strained his calf in pre-game warm-ups. Jackson was only able to play a handful of snaps against the Colts and had zero targets and receptions. Last season, Jackson had 68 catches, 1,167 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

Fantasy Analysis:

It's definitely been a forgettable year for Jackson. For fantasy owners, if he comes back in two weeks, it's tough to imagine starting him. Yes, he's one of the best deep threats in the game and quarterback Phillip Rivers is having a career year, but it's a risky move to use Jackson. The Chargers have been relying on Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee is back from injury, Seyi Ajirotutu has stepped up and Buster Davis can succeed if given opportunities. Even more difficult is placing a value on Jackson in keeper leagues as he may not even play for San Diego next season after all the melodrama that has occurred in the last six months between he and the organization. San Diego hosts the Oakland Raiders next week.
