Titans' Collins should start this Sunday
Tennessee Titans quarterback Kerry Collins might start on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to the Nashville Tennessean, Collins is working this week in practice to get back on the field. Backup rookie quarterback Rusty Smith started last week but did not perform very well. Collins has played in five games so far this season. He has passed for 638 yards, five touchdowns and three in interceptions. "He pushed through some things well before the pregame warm-ups and felt good, felt like he could finish the game if need be," Head coach Jeff Fisher said. Fisher went on to say that Collins status is "day-to-day".
Fantasy Analysis:
The Titans need the threat of a passing game in order for their offense to work. Last week, led by Smith, the Houston Texans defense keyed in on running back Chris Johnson and effectively shut him down with eight man fronts. Smith was a sixth round draft selection in the Titans' 2010 draft. Collins hasn't played much this season, but he's played marginally well. This is a very favorable passing matchup but at this critical time of year in your fantasy schedule, it's hard to take a flier on Collins unless you're desperate. The Titans use him as a game-manager and ultimately, they'd much rather have Johnson winning them their games on the ground rather than relying on Collins to make a lot of big plays.
