UPDATE: Who's in and who's out of the Thanksgiving games
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours today! If you are spending this holiday reading fantasy football information, well, good for you! You obviously have your priorities straight. Who needs family when you need to know if Reggie Bush
is going to play this afternoon against the Cowboys? To that end, this post will be updated throughout the day to let you know the playing status of players such as Bush, Felix Jones
, Tom Brady, Fred Taylor, etc.
As expected, Carson Palmer is active for the Bengals. And as expected, Jets wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery is inactive because of a groin injury.
Felix Jones and Reggie Bush are both active for this afternoon's game between the Saints and Cowboys. Both were listed as questionable on the injury report. Bush has made a full recovery from his broken leg while Jones has been hampered by a hip injury for the past few days.
Jeremy Shockey is inactive.
Fred Taylor is active for the Patriots in today's early game at Detroit. It will be his first action since Sept. 26. He's been out with turf toe ever since.
Tom Brady is active, as expected. He was listed as questionable on the injury report because of shoulder and foot ailments.
Jahvid Best
is active despite having a case of turf toe on each foot. Elsewhere for the Lions, quarterback Matthew Stafford and tight end Tony Scheffler are inactive.
Fantasy Analysis:
Palmer is not a great start against the Jets' defense on the road. I feel like his first half will be filled with turnovers. If you are starting him, your only hope is some late garbage-time points. Cotchery out for another week means Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards are solid WR2 options tonight. Bush is expected to get his full complement of snaps, so he's a decent start. But I like to err on the side of caution. Let Bush show you that he is indeed back to full strength. He's nothing more than a flex play for me, and not a great one at that. And Felix Jones is even more risky. He could re-aggravate that hip in a matchup that is less than ideal. I think he's limited during the game, meaning we'll see more of Tashard Choice as well as Marion Barber. Taylor's return is a bit of a surprise for no other reason than we've all come to expect him to be inactive. His role in undetermined, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead should still get a fair amount of touches. I don't think Taylor's return will greatly affect the fantasy value of those two this week, but we really don't know. There is some definite risk in starting anybody in New England's backfield, but I think BJG-E and Woodhead will be worthy flex plays in 12-team leagues. Brady, you start him, he plays well. Moving on ... Best continues to suit up with two bad feet. I have to believe the Lions will get smart and shut him down for the season soon. Until then, you don't want him in your lineup. He just can't run. Maurice Morris is a deep sleeper after receiving a team-high 14 touches last week at Dallas.
