Panthers' DeAngelo Williams out for the season

The bad news: DeAngelo Williams @DeAngeloRB' 2010 season is over. The good news: You no longer have to agonize over whether to put him in your lineup after six less-than-impressive games. The Carolina Panthers put their top running back from the past two seasons on injured reserve Wednesday, officially ending his season. Williams had been out of action since suffering a foot sprain during the late stages of week seven win against San Francisco. Williams' season ends with 361 rushing yards, 422 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown, all career lows.

Fantasy Analysis:

First the low production and now this? Not a great way for Williams to head to the free-agent market in 2011. Jonathan Stewart @Jonathanstewar1 and Tyrell Sutton didn't practice Wednesday, so it looks like Mike Goodson @GoodNplenty33 will get his second start in as many weeks Sunday. He gained 113 yards on 26 touches in week 10 versus Tampa Bay. While the workload is nice, the upcoming matchup against Baltimore is horrible. The Ravens limited Michael Turner to just 39 rushing yards on Thursday. Plus, with all 32 teams past their bye week, there should be enough options available to keep you away from a fourth-string running back behind a poor O-line facing a fearsome defense. Goodson is a just a flex play in extremely deep leagues this week. And most of Goodson's remaining schedule -- at Cleveland, at Seattle, versus Atlanta, at Pittsburgh -- isn't too promising either.
