Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck cleared to start in week 10

Just when we all were warming to Charlie Whitehurst, it appears that he'll resume his role as clipboard holder Sunday while Matt Hasselbeck @Hasselbeck takes the snaps against the Arizona Cardinals. After suffering a concussion 10 days prior, Hasselbeck was cleared to play Wednesday and expects to start this weekend. Head coach Pete Carroll expects it as well. "He's ready," Carroll said. "He needs to go through the week practicing and make it through just like everybody else does, but I'm anxious to get him back out there and get him back to take over."

Fantasy Analysis:

This is good news for the entire Seahawks offense, but especially wide receiver Mike Williams @BigMikeWill17. While he was bothered by an injury last week, that wasn't the full reason why he caught just two passes for 25 yards. Whitehurst just couldn't find him. Meanwhile, Williams was turning into a nice WR3 in fantasy leagues with Hasselbeck around. In weeks six and seven combined, Hasselbeck and Williams connected on 21 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown. Arizona's pass defense can certainly be exploited, so Williams is a viable play for week 10 if you need him. Hasselbeck's presence leads me to downgrade the Cardinals' defense slightly, but it remains a stellar one-week play. Hasselbeck will not be without mistakes and that offensive line will allow plenty of defenders to leak through.
