Shaun Hill penciled in as Lions' starting QB
Shaun Hill's fractured left forearm has healed to the point that he will be able to play Sunday against the Buffalo Bills. Barring any setbacks, he will be the Lions' starter, head coach Jim Schwartz announced Wednesday. Drew Stanton will be the No. 2 quarterback. Both of those players moved up the depth chart due to Matthew Stafford's most recent shoulder injury, which, according to reports, will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season. Hill, who broke his forearm in week six, took snaps with the first-team offense Wednesday. However, he did not take a snap under center during the 30-minute, media-allowed portion of practice. Hill said he should have no limitations during the game and his throwing motion will not be affected. But the Lions may run most of their plays out of the shotgun formation as the injury still impacts Hill's ability to handle snaps from center.
Fantasy Analysis:
Hill may be one of the most valuable players in fantasy for the final eight weeks. Despite compiling meaningful stats in just five games this year, he is near the top 20 in QB scoring. In four previous full starts this season, he threw eight touchdowns and averaged 282 passing yards per game. And the Lions are going to keep throwing a lot, as long as Calvin Johnson is out there. Detroit's remaining schedule holds numerous weak pass defenses -- Buffalo, Dallas, New England, Tampa Bay. Go get Shaun Hill now.
