Chad Henne benched, Chad Pennington to start for Dolphins
Just when we all thought Chad Pennignton's career as a starting NFL quarterback was over, turns out he'll become the 49th QB to start a game this season. Pennington has been named the starter for Sunday's game versus Tennessee. "After making long evaluation on all details involved, what I've decided to do here, this week, Chad Pennington is going to be the quarterback," Sparano said. "I took a lot of things into consideration. I weight an awful lot of options out. "This is not an indictment on Chad Henne. This is not an indictment on his future. He has come two-fold from where he was, but at this particular time, it's something I feel like I need to do for our football team." Pennington hasn't played in a game since week three of last season. He has been recovering from another shoulder surgery.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is surprising since there had been no feeling that Henne's job was at risk until today. But his recent play put him in this position; Henne threw four interceptions and no touchdowns in the past two games and he missed open receivers. How will this affect Brandon Marshall
's fantasy value? I don't think it does much, but it may slightly help. Pennington's accuracy is well known and while he doesn't have great arm strength, Marshall isn't a down-the-field receiver and it's not like Henne was overly successful on his deep throws in the first place. This probably means a few more catches for Marshall and maybe most importantly, Pennington's touch should help he and Marshall convert some goal line fade routes.
