Matt Moore out for season; Panthers don't name starting QB

On Sunday, the Carolina Panthers likely clinched the No. 1 spot as fantasy football's least valuable franchise. First, running back Jonathan Stewart with down with a concussion (an update on his playing status for week 10 hasn't been given). Then quarterback Matt Moore @mattmoore_8 tore the labrum in his right shoulder. Head coach John Fox said Monday that Moore will require season-ending surgery Fox didn't hint at who would become his next starting quarterback, Jimmy Clausen @JimmyClausen or Tony Pike. "The two quarterbacks on the roster, we'll take a look at them this week and decide who gives us the best chance to win," Fox said. Clausen replaced Moore against the Saints and completed just 8 of 18 passes for 47 yards. He also threw an interception. In six games this year, Clausen has one touchdown and six turnovers. Tony Pike entered in the fourth quarter with the game greatly out of hand and completed 6 of 12 passes for 47 yards. But wait -- there's more! Another rookie, Armanti Edwards, could be involved behind center. Fox said Edwards, a college quarterback at Appalachian State who had been converted to receiver, would get some snaps at QB during the practice week.

Fantasy Analysis:

To recap: DeAngelo Williams hobbled. Johnathan Stewart concussed. Three rookies are the possible candidates at QB and none of them will be able to keep Steve Smith @89SteveSmith afloat in fantasy leagues. Smith caught one pass for nine yards yesterday and we've already seen how Clausen drags him down when compared to his production with Moore in the lineup. The Panthers will play at Tampa Bay in week 10. Excuse me for stating the obvious, but Bucs' defense is an excellent one-week pickup.
