Colts' Anthony Gonzalez gone for the year

Anthony Gonzalez can't stay healthy. That's not exaggeration; in the past two seasons, it's become pure fact. He's played in just three games since the start of the 2009 season and now he won't play for the rest of 2010. Gonzalez's season is finished because of a knee injury he suffered during the Colts' Monday night victory over Houston. ESPN's John Clayton reported Friday that Gonzalez had injured his left PCL, the same ligament Gonzalez hurt during Indy's 2009 season-opening game, causing him to miss the rest of the campaign. Gonzalez returned to play Monday after missing the previous give games due to a right high ankle sprain. He ends this season with five catches for 67 yards.

Fantasy Analysis:

With Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon now all healthy, Gonzalez's fantasy value was minimal in any case. Blair White will likely become the Colts' No. 4 wide receiver. Since Gonzalez has been clearly tagged as injury-prone, and coming off two major knee injuries in the past two years, I'm not sure when or if he'll hold fantasy value again. That breakout season many were expecting after decent outputs in 2007 and 2008 never materialized. Gonzalez is scheduled to become a free agent after the 2011 season.
