Browns' Colt McCoy likely to start, Wallace & Delhomme miss practice
Cleveland Browns quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace are both still injured and have yet to practice this week. This leaves rookie signal caller Colt McCoy
as the starter once again. McCoy is 1-1 as a starter having lost at Pittsburgh and winning at New Orleans. This week's game against the New England Patriots would mark McCoy's first start at home. Delhomme (ankle) is still not ready to play. Wallace (ankle) was expected to be practicing this week and between the two injured quarterbacks, he has the best chance to return to practice. McCoy is looking forward to another opportunity to start. "I'm here for whatever they ask me to do," he said. "That's a coaches decision. Jake and Seneca aren't practicing and I treat it the same way I have the last several weeks. It's to prepare like I'm the starter every time. Whether it ends that way or not, I'm going to be prepared to play and am just working as hard as I can because the rest of this team is doing the same thing."
Fantasy Analysis:
McCoy has done an admirable job against two quality opponents on the road. Statistically, he hasn't done anything amazing, but the Browns do have a pretty good defense and running game to protect their rookie QB. For fantasy purposes, he's not ready yet. Wallace has a shot to play this week and he's likely the Browns' safest option at the position. Granted, the team went 1-3 in his four starts, but all his numbers are better across the board. McCoy still needs time to develop as he looks a little revved up and jittery in the pocket at times. Wallace isn't flashy, but he can move around a bit and play consistently, which is really all the Browns need at this point.
