Vikings' Sidney Rice activated from PUP list, practices Wednesday
Randy Moss is out, but Sidney Rice
is coming back to the Minnesota Vikings. Kind of. Rice was activated of the active/PUP list Wednesday and was participating in team practice. Some reporters out of Minnesota watched Rice and said he was cutting at full speed "didn't appear to be hindered" by his hip injury and looked "better than expected."
"Simply put, he didn't look like a guy who hasn't practiced at all this season," said Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Still, Rice isn't expected to play this week and probably not next week. Vikings have up to three weeks from now to evaluate his progress before determining whether or not to put him on the active 53-man roster. If they don't, the Vikings must place Rice on season-ending injured reserve.
Rice, who had a breakout season in 2009, was placed on the PUP list after August hip surgery, a procedure he decided against undergoing multiple times earlier in the offseason.
Fantasy Analysis:
For those of you who took Rice late in your drafts and have held on to him in hopes of a late-season return, your payoff is coming. Hopefully your team is still afloat to make it meaningful. Rice's presence would be a big help to Brett Favre and Percy Harvin. But an exact date of when he will play again remains unknown.
