Packers' Jermichael Finley requires second surgery
Although already lost for the season, Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley
had to undergo a second surgery to his knee to clear out a staph infection. Finley had a fever of 105 degrees before being rushed to the hospital. "I was in the hospital for two days. I'm surprised nobody knew about it. I had to get all these antibiotics in me, get blood drawn four or five times a day," Finley said. "It's terrible. Right now, I've got this IV in my chest, a central line." This IV line in Finley's chest will stay there for approximately six weeks and administer antibiotics three times a day. Finley should be ready for training camp heading into next season.
Fantasy Analysis:
Staph infections can get ugly very fast so Finley should feel fortunate they caught this and treated him so quickly. A temperature of 105 degree, if he is serious, could've killed him it not under immediate hospital care. For the Packers, they've had to move on with backups, particularly Andrew Quarless. Finley may be on the shelf for the season but he's still a part of the team. Quarless has seven receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown so far this season. Unfortunately, he was held without a catch last week against the New York Jets. He'll need to pick up the pace if he wants to fulfill the role Finley had.
