Chargers wide receivers continue to drop like flies

The San Diego Chargers will likely head into Houston for Sunday's game versus the Texans without three of their top four wideouts available. Malcom Floyd and Legedu Naanee are already expected to miss the game. Then on Tuesday, Buster Davis saw his season end as he was put on injured reserve. He landed on IR because of a groin injury. The 2007 first-round bust set career highs in receptions and yards this season (21 and 259, respectively). He had played through a rib injury in the past couple of weeks.

Fantasy Analysis:

And yet, the Chargers' passing game will just keep on rolling. Philip Rivers has thrown for at least 241 yards in every week and has five multi-touchdown performances. Since the injuries to wide receivers really started piling up three weeks ago, Rivers has averaged 297 passing yards per. Antonio Gates is still here. Darren Sproles @DarrenSproles is still here. Patrick Crayton @pcrayton12 and Seyi Ajirotutu are expected to be the starting WRs for the Texans game. None of them other than Gates are elite options, but the lack of familiar names obviously hasn't slowed Rivers. And it should stop you from having any reservations about him this week. He produces every Sunday, but he is helped by a tremendous matchup in week nine. He and Gates are top-tier starts. Crayton may not be a horrible deep sleeper for those looking for short-term wide receiver help. Sproles, thanks to his 13 receptions in the past two games, has become a viable flex option in deep leagues.
