Packers' Donald Driver proclaims himself OUT for week 9
Various reports from the Green Bay media have stated Packers wide receiver Donald Driver
would be questionable to practice this week leading up to Sunday's game versus Dallas. But Driver put any uncertainty to rest with his own words Tuesday. He will not play this week; he made the announcement during a radio interview. Driver was limited in practice last week because of a quad injury, which he aggravated Sunday against the New York Jets. He hasn't caught a pass in each of the past two games.
According to head coach Mike McCarthy, Driver aggravated his quad strain and he was planning on being very cautious with the 12-year vet this week. Cautious or not, Driver is already ruling himself out.
Fantasy Analysis:
I can't say this is the beginning of the end for the 35-year-old wideout because he was fairly productive before the injury. The Packers hold their bye in week 10, so Driver could get two full weeks off before attempting to practice again. He'll be re-evaluated in preparation for the Packers' game versus Minnesota on Nov. 21.
The Green Bay passing game struggled last week, but that's going to happen against the Jets. Even with Driver gone, Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings are still must-starts as they face a Cowboys defense that has quit. Q-U-I-T, quit. James Jones and Jordy Nelson
will see some extra targets in Driver's place. I would rather have Jones as he is a down-the-field threat. He is worth a gamble in another bye-heavy week.
