Chiefs' Dexter McCluster has high ankle sprain
Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Dexter McCluster
has sustained a high ankle sprain. It was reported by Nick Wright of the radio station KCSP in Kansas City that McCluster would miss "multiple weeks of action" which also includes Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills. McCluster plays a utility role in the Chiefs offense, lining up in the backfield as well as a wide receiver. He also shares kick and punt return duties with fellow rookie cornerback Javier Arenas. McCluster has 11 rushes for 60 yards and 15 receptions for 147 yards and two scores. He is averaging 5.5 yards per carry and more than half of his rushes went for first downs.
Fantasy Analysis:
McCluster hasn't quite lived up to standards after an impressive preseason and beginnings of the this season. The Chiefs haven't necessarily needed his versatility with running backs Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles carrying the heavy running load. McCluster is a highly dynamic player with a ton of potential, the problem is the hype may have come a little too fast. For anyone who has seen him with the ball in his hands and on the field, it's clear he's a special talent. With him missing action, it doesn't necessarily affect anyone's fantasy impact. But if there were a few plays that they might use him in a couple different packages, those plays will have to be swapped out.
